WORKSHOPS

We provide Brazilian Carnival music workshops to community, school, special needs and corporate groups as well master classes and one-to-one tuition. From one off workshops to establishing community samba groups, we tailor to your groups’ needs.

In all workshops we Aim to:

  • Introduce participants to the music and culture of Brazil in an accessible and enjoyable way
  • Encourage participation and learning in a friendly, safe environment
  • Enrich participants cultural awareness and experience in a positive way
  • Develop participants skill and awareness of the music they are playing to the best of their ability

STRATEGY

  • Involvement in and playing of the music by participants is paramount.
  • Learning is experiential.
  • We place a strong emphasis on the shared ownership of music by the group.
  • Areas such as musicality, percussive technique, socio-historical background and group dynamics are introduced throughout the workshop and in context with the music the group is playing

In Longer-Term Projects

Our style of facilitation encourages social development, self-expression, confidence and teambuilding, all the time placing a strong emphasis on participation and enjoyment!

  • We try and encourage particular members of the group to take up musical leadership roles for individual pieces.
  • All group members are encouraged to improve their skill level
  • Each workshop is modular with specific short and longer-term goals
  • In each workshop handouts will be given explaining some of the areas covered in that workshop

If you wish to create a professional sounding CD of your group’s achievements we are happy to recommend the excellent ‘Clued in Music’ (hypertext to links page).  Just contact us for a chat.

INCLUSIVITY
