Founded in October 2004 In Ireland's Sunny South East, Kilkenny’s Samba Group plays Brasilian Percussion with a strong sense of community with a quest for musical excellence at its heart.

The group places a strong emphasis on the cultural roots of Brasil’s street music and has an active education policy including a growing resource library for it’s members. We play Afro-Brasilian based Grooves primarily from the North East of the country.

have participated in award winning entries in Thurles, Kilkenny and Dublin and London's St. Patrick’s & Notting Hill Parades. We have played in France & Germany and with groups in Brasil. We have  collaborated with top theatre and community art groups, Djs and sound artists for a huge range of events

(Alligator/Caiman) is  a critter associated with Brazilian Waterways. The Samba de S.E part of our name is a geographical location (South East) and as you can probably gather, The band 's first incarnation in the city of Kilkenny was the glorious year of 2004 (October)

The band’s teaching and peer learning structures encourages players of all levels to work together to create full-on infectious Carnival sounds. Rehearsals are weekly and the group performs nationally at Festivals, Parades and events.
