Tom of Rhythmriot Music is a percussionist and musician specialising in Afro-Brazilian ceremonial music and the street rhythms of Brazil’s Carnival
| EXPERIENCE Tom has studied with numerous Brazilian percussion masters including Mestres; Dudu Tucci; Luis Claudio Farias; Esteves de Silva; Mestre Chacon; Bosco D'Oliveira; Gonçalinho; Sam Alexander and others. Has played (and trained) with a variety of samba bands and percussion ensembles including ‘MaSamba Samba School’ (Dublin); ‘Drumclub’(Sligo) ;Esquilo Atomico (U.K). He was musical director for ‘Samboeire Samba School’(Leitrim). Tom has performed with Nação Zumbi; Boi da Liberdade; Maracatu Estrela du Norte, Bloco Eri Okan, Tambor du Mestre Felipe, as well as at international groupings including Encontro Europeu de Maracatus (U.k & France). He engages in continual training including annual trips to the U.k, Europe and Brasil...or wherever he can find good learning! |

| | Currently Thomas runs ‘JACARÉ – Kilkenny’s Community Samba Group, plays with ‘Mad Hatters’ street percussion group (Drogheda), ‘ONÇA’ percussion ensemble. He also is Musical Director for 'BLOCO DE SUD ESTE' (Wexford) & is part on THE IRELAND DRUMMERS all-island project He has led project groups in numerous performances and parades nationally, including The St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Dublin, London, Kilkenny, Sligo & Thurles) and Samhain Festival (Dublin, Leitrim & Sligo). He performs both within Ireland and internationally Tom has also guested in a variety of theatrical, visual art and performance contexts |
